Biography
Hyndsville (Schoharie County): Evelyn Conde Bush 71, of Fromire Drive
died tragically while attempting to save her dog at her residence in Hyndsville.
Evelyn was born February 9, 1938 in Ballston Spa, NY a daughter of Robert and Marion (Conde) Martin. She was
educated at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Schools and later, moved to Howes Cave and then Lawyersville where she and
her first husband operated a dairy farm. She would later work at the former Community Hospital of Schoharie County
in Cobleskill as a Nurses’ Aide and also the E.R. Clerk from 1966 to 1985. Evelyn then worked for Schoharie County
in transport and the meals-on-wheels program until 1995 when she began her career as a Health-Care Provider for
many individuals throughout Schoharie County.
She volunteered at many functions for the American Legion and AM Vets in Cobleskill and also assisted at the Robert
A. Guffin Funeral Home for many years. Evelyn was an avid animal lover and provided for many dogs throughout the
years. She enjoyed her flowers, birds, attending auctions and being with family and supporting the wrestling program
at Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence R. Bush whom she married November 6, 1981, four children Linda (Paul)
Parola of Chittenango, NY, Earl Merchant of Sulfur Springs, AK, Leonard (Jett) Merchant of Carlisle, and Eric
(LouJen) Merchant of Hyndsville, two step-children Kevin Bush and Stacey (Charles) Parrino, both of Canajoharie,
one brother Robert Frank (Linda) Martin of Charlton, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews and 1
niece and the father of her children, Robert Merchant of Sharon Springs.
A period of visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, December 28th at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 108
Chapel Street, Cobleskill. There will be no formal services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
